Starter issue.

you should remove seat and the cover for fuses and take a multi meter set it to 20 volts dc and soon as you turn the key on you should check voltage on all fuses. maybe you could find the problem area.

So, does the starter relay kick in OK? I'm assuming the trigger post you refer to is on the solenoid of the starter.

I can't see it being the tune but worth checking I guess.

The starter solenoid engages fine once it receives that 12V to the trigger connection. Just for some odd reason, the bike will not allow the start button to function until that time period has elapsed.

There is a starter relay between the switch and the solenoid. Is that kicking it as soon as you push the button?

I'm trying to figure out where the delay is introduced. Is there a delay between pushing the button and the relay kicking or does the relay click immediately and the delay is between there and the solenoid?

Is that the relay on the right side of the bike under the cover with the seat release?

If it's the same as mine (R3 Classic), then yes, that's the one

I tested that relay to make sure the relay works as intended... but I haven't tested it to see when it actually receives power. I'll Do this tomorrow evening after work.

just a thought. there is a fall detection sensor that my manual shows. book shows it under left cover at the rear. should that be out of place the computer might think the bike has fallen over.
book says to cycle ignition switch off then back on again.

also could you tell us if the head lights go out when you hit the starter button.
