Speedo and tacho needles won't go past 140 & 8k, what the eff?

Yeah so I had a duel with a ZX10R today and i noted that my speedo hit 140 mark but i still had a gear or 2 and plenty revs to go. the tacho also stopped at 8k mark but the revs kept climbing.

Would i be right in saying the original/classic clocks wind past their top markings? My roadster doesn't :-(
 
My 06 and 07 keep on going. The 06 will even go past the odometer I suspect the 07 does also but have not twisted it up that far yet.
 
So? How did you make out against the ZX10R?
I'm with Will and haven't redlined mine either.
 
ZX10R, I've shat bigger than one of them. They're tiny, but fast.
