should have read, "Howdy from NC"

I get up that way on occasion... Until about 6 yrs. ago I was located well west of Winston-Salem and we'd ride the BR Pkwy quite a bit, but we generally went northwest and picked it up at Glendale Springs, simply because we could be up there in about and 1 hr. and 15 mins., vs. Asheville, which due to the "shape" of the state was quite a bit further... but I/we'd hit Black Mt. / Asheville ever-so-often, regardless, and always enjoyed it. Camped at Bl. Mt. quite a bit, as our church has a nice facility there.

Welcome from West Michigan ! I'm always up for a good palaver !

Thanks... Yep... I enjoy the palaverin' almost as much as the ride... (I said, "almost")...

Speaking of "palavering", this R3T is a dadgummed whopper, though - a real handful when trying to move it around manually, either on it or off of it... easy to "drop", I'd reckon, if not careful.

If you make it back up, I'm just over the hill near BatCave on 9.

How 'bout that... I know 9 and "Bat Cave"... and you probably know "Christmount", right there as you start up that winding, "Warning to Truckers" run on 9... it's our church-affiliated camp I spoke of. Yep, I know Bat Cave. In fact, we'd camp at Christmount, then run over your way and on to Lake Lure as part of our "run"... from L.L. we'd come on down through Rutherfordton, and work our way back home, gradually. My best riding buddy who made that run with me multiple times over many years ended up losing the fingers of his "clutch hand" in a table saw accident, a good number of years ago, and consequently I haven't made that riding/camping run in many years, now (I'd roughly guess it's been earliest part of the 00's). We'd just meander through those "twisties" on 9 - I'm no "hot-dogger" - I just love the air and the scenery!

If we're two up we meander. I ridesensibly but one up there are no guarantees especially if an Aussie is chasing me through the Dragon. hen its a peg grinder from start to finish. Pretty tame compared to some here, glad you're aboard.
