Sheepskin seat cover opinions ???

Pete, how tall are you? I find the stock R3R seat rather grim and am now trying the long haul Triumph seat with a sheepskin covered gel pad to give me a little extra height. Getting 2 inches up and 2 inches back with your Russell day long sounds perfect to me. How much was your seat?

I also have a lambswool seat cover and it helps with the long rides. I still have a problem with my riding position though, my hands go numb after about 15 minutes of riding. I've altered the bars and am about to order the Triumph risers. A mate told me its the position of my feet that is the problem.....anyone relate to that?????
BigAl,
Numb hands can be helped by using larger grips, i fitted some grip puppies and that has helped.
Apparently its to do with pressure on certain nerves when gripping the grips.

Love my fitted lambswool seat covers, help, but dont fix the numb bum.

Note that before @Walking Tall the prior post was 8 years ago - and from a seldom here visitor.

Position is key. I found that I was simply not sat right. Modified seat (because it is easier than modifying foot position) - that then required modified bars.
And I am NOT a big bloke.

Sheepskin is (ime) not a very good all weather long term solution. It mats down eventually. And ime tend to make ones "gentleman's vegetables" sweat more.

Try good quality aramid lined jeans or better still lined leathers. They stop the saggy parts of the body from moving too much and keep the natural meaty pads where nature intended.

Depends which seat base size and cover materials etc.
Black Leather S3 solo for R3 Roadster is $710 or $540 in vinyl + postage in the USA is $45 to $80 plus you have to send them your seat after having required photos taken.

+ $45 for HD spring if you are over 230lb + $45 for a Solo rain cover. Close enough to $750-900.

I may end up going that (expensive) route. Was all set to order a Corbin, then started seeing some negative comments here on build quality and the way the seat mounts to the bike.

Guess I'm still a noob here...Anyways, I may end up going with the Russell. Was all set to order a Corbin, then I started seeing some negative comments about the build quality and how Corbin uses their own mounting system because they use their own pan. I need to get up and back on the bike, much too cramped stock for my 6'6" 60 year old frame. Seems like the Russell may be my best bet

Wife and I love our sheepskin cover. We never leave home without it.

That grey looks great.

I wash ours in the machine once a year on delicate and it comes out like new. I never dry it. Just put it on the bike and go.

I had ours fitted so there is a pouch on the front that fits over the horn of the saddle and there is a snap on the back that has the other end on a strap on the mounting bolt.

I left the standard grips on and used leather wraps. Love them. They have been on a couple years now and have formed to my hands.
I got the covers for the levers also, but I can take them or leave them. They are ok.
