Running rich after checkup

Last two rides I experienced a sluggish rich acting ride. Twice it cut off completely only to blow white smoke after finally getting it going. Over Christmas I pulled the tank to find all of the clamps loose on the air intake, and the goose neck tube completely off. Took a couple of hours to get it all tight and back in place. Could this have caused the issues, dealer couldn't answer. (pulled the plenum to see if intakes were dirty---found clean, whew).
Not too happy with the mechanic that turned the wrenches.

White smoke generally means water getting in the intake. How does it run now that you've sorted the intake paraphenalia?
