Rocketing in the UAE

Listen to what warp said. Give it time you will love it

Welcome Zeotz and +1 on the smaller front tire. Many R3 captains are using that setup & wouldn't go back. I have a 140 front Avon. Some even go as low as 130. Since you have a 07 you don't have ABS, so no need to worry about that, as the ABS doesn't like 130 size difference to the rear tire.

What kind of roads do you have in the Dubai area. Flat, straight, curves, hills ? Also when you change the front springs to Progressive, be sure to change the fork oil to 7 weight. Maybe you want to consider using 10 weight due to the extreme heat you have over there.

In Dubai all flat super straight roads . The only curves you get are the flyovers at interchanges and some roundabouts. The nicer curvy and mountain roads (in fact only 3 options) to ride are like 100km of straight road away.

On tires, is there an option for taller rear tires (240/55?) to improve turning , or just the front that needs to go narrower and also shorter i guess. (140/80?)

Warp was saying to use the Exedra Max on the rear because it is taller than the stock size and helps with the turn in. I use the Cobra tires front and rear. Standard rear size and the 140/75 front. I lowered my front forks 10 mm to also help the turn in.

WELCOME to ya from WA State.
Spend some time and get to know your motor.

Thank you everyone for useful tips and warm welcome ... a worldwide network of rocketeers from down under to up's and above!

I took a ride this morning to some mountain roads . Not too bad and could be better hopefully when I change tires.

When I first rode an pre Roadster R3 when I got it rolling and went to put my feet up, I missed the pegs completely. I was so used to other bikes. Would have lookwd pretty funny to anyone watching. Was not sure if I would ever get used to it, or even if I liked it at all. But the power and sherr grunt was too much too resist and after a while I have really gotten to like it and it feels perfectly natural now. Chris
