Thanks Lester for the video. The bike in question sounds like several b b's in a can whereas your vid sounds like a marble in a can. Still around 2k rpm though. Question is this: what does the "upgrade kit" consist of, how much does it cost and will it fix the noise? A little history: I had a 2006 Rocket which I took to my local dealer for a 3 hour valve adjustment. I got it back 3 weeks, yes 3 weeks later with a terrible clatter at exactly 3500 rpm. "they all do that". No way. They would not because they could not fix it. They did not know how to adjust valves on a Rocket and told me they had to order the camshaft alignment tool. Since you cannot adjust valves without this tool someone was lying. Long story short. Mr Peter Carlio from Triumph offered exactly zero help and I had to get rid of it at an $8000 loss for 10 months of ownership. I dont blame the bike, I blame the dealer. I sure did like my Rocket and I am going to own another one soon. But you can see why I am a bit leary of the rattles in early Rockets. Many thanks again for your help.
