Yes you would think Ian, but as always people will complain when they get caught doing something wrong:mad:
:rolleyes::whitstling: (never catch me doing anything wrong)the town next to me has two red-light cameras everyone knows it but still, locals get busted and complain??????????????
 
Hate sped and re light cameras, both are just a revenue maker. Sp÷d by it self is not a problem, it's inappropriate sped for the conditions.

For rd light cameras you need to know where the intersection starts. Ther is an intesctin by my old office that evey cycle there wa a least 1 flash. City came out and painted a red line to show the ticket line, you could fit a car betwen crosswalk and red line.

My ticket described the cameras function as “ Taking a photograph of license plate upon entering an intersection whereas the light has turned red”.
 
We have a few time/distance cameras on a few of the freeways here. I travel them often and use cruise control. I laugh at the idiots who speed, then slow down for the camera, only to speed up again. Little do they know they will still get fined for doing the set distance in under the allotted time, hence speeding. If ever there was revenue raising cameras, I don't think there is a better example. However, if you want to limit the speed on a section of freeway, its probably a good way to do it.

Hmmm, I’ve been noticing cameras, along with luminous speed posting signs at specific distances on our main travel highways here. I suspect it’s to do exactly what you described. I’ve often (always) said. “ Place a den of worried mothers in charge of the playground, and all fun with end shortly there after”.

Yes, the number plate recognition technology has come a long way. In fact, what they do here now, is park a van with a small camera outside. The pursuit cars sit about 200 metres down the road. By the time you've passed the camera and get close to the cops, they already have all your info. Expired registration, outstanding fines or warrants etc. and they pull you over.
