So i have a 2010 r3t without abs. I changed to the high end pads and it still is very grabby and locks the rear wheel really bad. Im currently deployed to korea. Im trying to think what can be done to upgrade the brakes? Any suggestions?

Whàt rear tire are you using? I went to Michelin Power Commander II's ,don't have the problem anymore .130/90/16 f and ¹80/65/16 r I have 16,000 miles on them expect to get 20,000 or more out of them.

if the rear locks up easy your best bet is likely to switch to a better tire if thats a option. High end brake pads would likely make the problem worse since the initial bite will likely be stronger than stock and the performance under heat will likely be better. I have heard the touring bikes lock the rear very easily, I know my 240mm on the roadster with abs has only pulsated a little bit maybe twice, I felt the rear brake could actually be stronger along with the front (but I was used to ****** rockets which are a whole different game than a 800 pound lead sled). Also braking style may have to be adapted, I know I have ridden on some big bikes with weak brakes (think harley) and a soft touch wasn't needed.

I know this is a sin but i cant remember what tires are on it. The bike is waiting patiently for me to return from my non deployment deployment to korea.
My first big bike that i rode enough ro ride hard was a vtx 1800 and that had linked brakes maybe i just developed some bad habits there.
I will tell you there have been some wet weather stops on the r3t that left teeth marks on the seat.
Im thinking avon cobras when i get back as well as a good brake line flush and bleed. But if that dont work what else would you suggest?
More saddle time? (Probably only put about 4k miles on it so far)Deal with it? Or mechanical mods?

Also as old school said change braking style more front braking less rear braking.Other option go the c/t route ,Ihear the flack already!

70% on the front brakes ... 30% on rear brakes while stopping. Switch back to OEM pads to lose the initial bite characteristics of high end pads.

Do yall have a video on how to grease the drive splines or at least written instructions?

I had no idea Honda did linked brakes on the vtx1800. The braking is definitely going to be different on a independent system compared to linked. You might want to switch back to stock pads and throw a good tire on the back. Work on braking technique as well. I have never ridden a touring r3 so I can't offer much advice based of experience, but I know the bike has more weight on the narrower tire than my bike. I am sure you can get good performance out of it like your looking for.

I love the bike but the grabby rear brake and realy hot pipes are two things that irritate me the most. I think i have a solution for the heat but figured i could get some expert advice on the brake. Im prolly gonna put avon cobras on front and bake and just practice on better braking technique.

Stock mufflers have cats in them which creates xtra heat.get tors D&D's or some other aftermarket exhaust and a good tune.
