rear brake light switch

good evening all,

still in LOVE with my 07 but I noticed I have no light activation with I apply my rear brake. pretty sure it's the pressure switch, and I"m wondering if there is an 'aftermarket' part that people are using, or is this pretty much a dealer only expensive part?? for right now it's not a big issue, as I use both brakes, and the front brake light switch works. I"ll have to have it fixed for safety inspection in July of next year.

Before you run out spending money, check the spring tension and spray some WD on it. Activate it by hand a couple of times.

I had to tap a brake wire for something and thinking i hope that switch never goes bad
 
have u even check the bulb or checked for power in the socket?
 
just took a look at mine and i think i would unplug the switch and try to check power coming in and if i had power then i would short across it. with a fused wire.
