I'm having a problem with my turn indicators operating intermittently. I've cleaned the switch and it appears to be functioning properly. I figured it would be a cheap try to replace the flasher unit.

The Service manual shows it located under the right side cover. However, where the flasher unit is supposed to be there is a relay. I removed it and the flashers still function.

Does anyone know where the flasher control unit is really located?

Check you are on the correct diagram in the manual, that is the indicator relay on a standard rocket, I think it is not there on a touring.

Yeah, there are different diagrams for the Standard/Classic and Touring. Page 18.26 has two pictures. The one for the R3T calls the single module the 'Flasher Unit'. But after pulling it out, its a standard Hella relay. And the flasher works with it removed.

I really hate things that only happen some times. Its actually been happening almost since the bike was new. Now though at 20,000 miles its happening a lot more often. I'd say about 25% of the time when you hit the signals they don't work. Repeated stabbing at the switch and they will eventually start working again.
