R3 tires

Why would I be kidding? Its an important accessory as well as others to an R3, or any bike. Worth checking out thoroughly. Unless some of us think we have all the answers.

You took that the wrong way.
Of course it's important and that's why you have 40 posts in this thread alone with just about every option already covered. I just meant that I didn't think there was much anyone could add to made the decision for you. There's hundreds, probably thousands, of posts on the topic in various other threads too. There's even a separate forum dedicated to discussion of car tyres (or not). In fact, tyre choice is one of the most discussed topics on here, which pretty much demonstrates that no one has all the answers.

What pressure you running on front tyre?

32 in the front Avon mate.

I'v got a brigestone rear tyre on the front excellent wear and handling run at 45 psi (run the tyre backwards)

Marty that 43psi on the Bridgestone is working well on the back thanks mate

I run the back Metzler at 45 psi and get around 18 thousand K's out of them, will be going for bridgestone next.

And 40 in Bridgestone - 42 on a trip. Depends a little on the roads.

Under 45 Metzler handles like ****.

Marty can't understand how both you and triumphil get such good mileage out of your Metz,s I don't get even half that much before the canvas appears ,obviously must have been doing some thing wrong

Mate I have no idea why I get mileage, I do keep a good check on tyre pressures weekly at the longest a fortnight. I'm lot a light weight 137kg, and ride it just as hard as every body else.

The only thing I do a bit different than some I don't nail it on take off like to get a good roll up before giving it full throttle. I have found 45 psi is good in the back tyre, any thing less than that and I find the Metzler becomes unstable for high speed corners, and start to wear lumpy.

Mate I plaid with tyre pressures for so long, and I've found I get better mileage and handling running front and rear at 45 psi. I must say I'm impressed with some of the boys are saying about the Bridgestone and will be going that way next tyre change.

One thing I have thought is maybe the ECU restrictions for 1st to 3rd gear may be a lot more than others, considering a mate has the tourer rocket and stays with me considering his stock engine is supposed be 40 hp less than the roadster.

When finances permit, I will be talking a bit to Richard and Hanso to get two very different opinions and information, they may take the piss out of each other a lot but have come up with the right answers for a lot of problems.

If I let my front tire pressure run just a little low on my Metzlers, handling gets bad, it dips, or pulls toward the turn. otherwise there ok. Don't know why the dealer and Triumph recommends Metzlers on the R3.
Bridgstones seem like a good way to go from what I've read so far.

Good point..
