Pulling wheels for the first time

Hi guys. I am in the process of removing my wheels for the first time for a tire change on my 2015r3t.
I am attaching a picture of my front axle assembly and I am questioning if the groove in the middle of the left side spacer is supposed to be there or is it a wear mark from something?
Also, should I smear grease on the axle surface before reinstalling? It was pretty dry when I removed it.

Yes on the anti seize grease on axle. I do not have a groove like that on my spacers.
 
That groove is fine, don't think that is where seal rides, but if it is, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the seal. I would not though, for if it is a wear ring, then the seal is doing it's job.
 
Kid, I don’t think the seal is that far out. I just wasn’t sure if the groove is supposed to be there
