Power Commander Failed?

I have had an intermittent problem with backfiring through the exhaust and intake for a month now.
I thought I had tried everything, no luck until I removed my PC111.
I had already zeroed the map, so I knew it couldn't be that.
Now the bike is fine. Anyone else experience or heard of the PC111 failing like that? I'm still not sure if it's coincidence or not.

mine failed, but I had already ordered the tune boy so when it came I got busy with it and never contacted power commander for help.
