I have the triple k&n's installed and cat is intact and stock pipes on my 07 classic. It seems that one cyl sometimes will pop if I bump the throttle to quickly from an idle. the first few hundred rpm from and idle you can hear the difference in sound...sort of like one is just different. I have looked for leaks and the obvious and can't find anything out of the ordinary. Any suggestions on how to identify which cyl is the culprit and how I can t/s the problem. it just aint right!...maybe valves???

You will need a new tune (via TuneBoy, TuneECU, PowerCommander, etc..) after putting the triple K&N's on, even with stock pipes. Even though you haven't changed the exhaust yet, you have changed the intake. The stock intake plumbing provides a 'controlled' air flow to the throttle bodies, now they are wide open to the outside air and will require a bit more fuel to run correctly..

I asked the head tech at the Triumph dealership the same question. I was told that R3s don't respond well to that type of "juking the throttle". Ever since then if I do a rev I ease into it to get it off idle. Hasn't popped since I learned this info.

Mine will do it with stock air intake and KNs.

did you check the clamps under the throttle bodies to make sure the TB are seated and clamped tightly? Also look at the plug blanks in the TB one on each and two on the rear they tend to dry rot fast under there in the heat.

I wonder why they installed these lines with plugs? If the TBs can be syned by Tuneeu, tune boy,etc...

now thats a good question could be the manufacturer of the Throttle bodies had them for another vehicle. Myself I use three for my boost gauge and Vampire unit and Blow off valve. I think I only have one not in use and I do not use a map sensor. So I balance the throttle bodies the old way.

i have experianced this also . i have trip k&ns and jardines with wayne tripps tune and i get some random back fireing once in a while, like a little blip in the throttle will sometime cause this it seems to be through the intake. i wondered if my filters were dirty but still have not cleaned:eek:only 5600 on my r3 soi dont think i have any rubber rot ye:eek:

I have the same issue. Has done it since the day I got it. Was told by dealership its normal and every rocket they have serviced did it.

Yep my R3R backfired through the intake if you blip the trottle on the down shift. Sometimes it would stall the engine. The demo I test rode did the samething triumph said that was normal. I fitted a PCV and got it tuned on a dyno hasn't done it since in about 12000klm.
