Popping pipes?

OK...! I installed a cat bypass, Installed a K&N underseat filter and a set of TORS (Thanks Brembo!) on my 05 R3. Took the bike down to my local dealer and he reloaded tune 20226 in my bike. The sound of the bike immediately changed for the better. Problem is.... I get the infamous popping in the pipes when decelerating like it is running too lean. I think I may have read something about this in a previous post. Is it possible I do not have the correct tune in the bike? the dealer did not seem to confident in what tune should be in the bike

What do I need to do to get rid of the popping? I do have a tuneboy but need to get a software key from Wayne enabling it for this particular bike. I think that is something I need to do sooner then later. Appreciate any thoughts you guys have on the matter!

Captain Bob, gregtharas is right...getting the key and trusting the force is the only way. Gotta' do some over writing of fuel table values. It's all been hit and miss for me, but I'm making progress. A knowledgeable tuner w/dyno is the real answer, though. 8)
 
Am I the only one actually likes the popping? :shock: There's nothing like shifting down through the gears crackling like a race bike off cam.

I know people who'd pay good money to make it happen.

No you're not mate, I love it too. Nothing like closing the throttle and setting car alarms off. Very childish but enormous fun.

I think the popping sounds like an "out of tune" bike. My road race bike never popped like that. And to think..., Triumph doesn't charge for this option! :wink:

I am now trying to get the tuneboy software to work on my laptop. What a PITA! problem is I am working with an older laptop using W2000 and a serial port vs. USB. Once I get the Tune Boy software to recognize the bike, I will then send Wayne $$ to get the key for Tune Edit.

Yeah, I really need to get the Tune Boy set up to work with my bike. I used it with my previous Triumph's (2 955 Daytona's - one street, one race). Also helped my "Daytona" friends out with setting their CO, etc.

I kind of like the ability to be able tio woerk on the bike without being dependant on a dealer. 1 - It is a lot cheaper! 2 - I have no one to blame but myself if something is screwed up! As I said earlier, my dealer wasn't sure which tune to put in in!

I "hear" you on the Harly thing! (no pun intended!)
 
The dealer really has his hands tied. The smog and noise abatement laws have him hamstrung if anything is not absolutely stock. So if you modify, you are on your own. And if you do modify, Oh mi God, there is no turning back! :lol: :lol:
 
Is there a good picture of the Cat by-pass out there somewhere :?:

Just wanted to know what $400CDN looked like :wink:
