Rear tire mileage.

I got just under 4000 miles out of my rear, The front is ok for now currently at 4800 m

I'm surprised this rear has lasted this long without so much wear, it must be the cooler road surface temp; but it is very near done at this time around. The previous skin lasted 8100 and I was on borrowed time; I won't go that far this time around. That's two (projected) in 14 or 15 months @ $350 mounted each.
I'm just about to go over to the soft side of the darkside with a Cooper Zeon 2XS 225/50. It is said to have a 280AAA 92W rating. -0.59" narrower and -0.59" less tall. I like the idea of a soft darkside rubber. Anyone having already tried this one out??? I believe they have a cage warranteed mileage of 40k. If I get half that I'll get a woody.

Her3tic. do you ever open your bike up to get that kind of mileage. You must be trailering the thing around. Dont you ever pull up to Harleys at the stop lights and fill their lungs with rubber.

very intelligent choice. so they don't make a 55 series? that would put you close on diameter with the metz. i do like cooper zeons, but i'll probably try a 205.

I got 11000 out of the front tire (met) and went to a replacement Dunlop. Got 6000 from the back and went to the car tire for at least 30,000 miles. A new front tire sure feels good after riding that babys ass around town.

I got 8000 miles out of the first two rear tyres, & 10000 miles out of the first two front tyres. I'd say I'm on track for getting 8000 on the third rear, too. Very consistent wear. I check pressure as part of every preflight. :D

Hmmph Bah

Seems that surprisingly the rear is not the proble.
Just replaced the rear at just under 5k, that's fine, about the same on most bikes I've ever had.
BUT - Just noticed the front is bolloxed at 5.5k, tread gone on RHS. Usually get 2x rear miles on every front.
Too many roundabouts here in sunny England.

tyre mileage

in Miles, 4000 approx per rear & 6500 per frount. Thats 6500kms R/10000kms F approx . Prob less in reality as thats including the speedo error.. ie every real 100k's reads 107 K's. Just got tuneboy & reset now though.:D
Frounts suffer from camber wear. Esp. touring on rough roads ( real bumpy granite chipping roads over here)Once past a certain point, the ride feels unsafe.
Rears shred on peg scraping weekend riding.:p Starting to grind the tip of the right side exhaust heat shield now:eek:
