Excuse me! I'm paying $380 tomorrow on various vehicle use taxes; including high way use tax euphemistically called a license tag, as well as ad valorem tax, imposed upon my ownership of vehicles. Then there's upwards to $0.61 taxed-on by some states, the amount varies across the country, on each gallon of gasoline.
Imagine: If you drive a 20mpg/gallon vehicle, thats an additional $0.20 per gallon if the $0.01 per mile tax were to come to fruition. Or $0.80 per gallon if the $0.04/mile tax became law. Add to that the next episode of unregulated fuel price speculation that again drives the price to $150/barrel oil. Now there's motivation to buy a green vehicle
And you thought the price of transported goods skyrockets before. This, imo, was the spark that set the collapse in motion. While behind the scenes the corruption in the FIRE empire was coming to a head steadily, this was the spark that motivated so many to rat hole and change buying habits instead of continuing to spend; to keep debt finance capitalism going consumers must consume.
Speaking of stainless inserts; it is possible to chrome stainless and if so is it a better chrome? Not that I want chrome, I was just curious?
