Please Help the techno phobe

:) I have finally installed a tune boy and would appreciate some help please.

I have a Rocket III 06 Model with Jardines and stock airfilter at present...The screen at the top of Tune Boy tune edit screen lists File (020225 tune.dat)...std 020225 tune
Likely 020225 was the last file fetched and loaded as default?? The tune indicated at the top of the screen might have more descriptive details identified

The ECU indicates Tune (020145) Rocket III standard pipe and catalyst.
That's a familiar tune: One that is "stock".

The bike is popping on decel liks a bstard and I was hoping to eliminate or reduce this.
There's a table mod for the L1-3 tables, that Pig9r posted over a year ago, that has quelled the decel pop for my beast.

...I also am not sure of the process for downloading a different tune.
To start with, don't be impatient. Sometimes getting the ECU and Tuneboy to speak to each other can be aggravating. I've been using TB for two years and have not found it to be Plug~n~Play.

Be sure your USB is one of your "successful" ports. I find some work better than others more dependably. Shut down the TB software and connect the cable. Turn on the ignition key then start up the software. If you get a comms port error you're not connected:rolleyes: But apparently you're getting somewhere, when ECU identified tune is obtainable. The big "Download" button will illuminate yellow when all is ready. Select download and go grab a beer. The initial change from 20145 to 20225 will be a long process. Later reloads of 20225 with further mods will go much quicker.

I recently had an issue with the TB package. TuneEdit worked like a charm but TB Diagnostics (the Dash Board screen) wouldn't connect. The ECU number must appear on the Dash Board. I tried various connection sequencing and still no go. I ended up downloading the very latest full TB package and was finally successful. I still don't know why I had the difficulties. I've used both aspect of the previous TB software version successfully in the past. It's a mystery and always a challenge.

Don't forget to write down the TB Key, somewhere you can find it.
Follow screen instructions and don't rush it; if not, a recovery from a failed download may be in your future. Don't be impatient. And put a charger on the battery.

Thanks (Computer idiot)
I'm right there with ya. Incidentally, I write this a bit broader for others that haven't been as successful as yourself.

Thanks heaps for the replies and advice

I will attempt to load tunes tonight when I finish my shift.

Will let all know how it goes.

Once again thanks for the assistance (I needed all the help I can get)

Cheers

Road test results

Toymn8r - your current setup is kind of unique but I think these should get you in the ballpark. As far as the bypass, I would recommend getting one when you can. That way if you forget to disable the O2 sensor in Tuneboy you are covered and it keeps the plug clean.

Try the 20050staintune map in this thread.

If it is still popping on decel try this one:

If it still continues, try this one:

Thanks for the tunes Pig9

Results so far according to the seat of the pantsometer

1st tune 20050 staintune better reponse in the top end, felt maybe slightly less reponsive mid range, still popping on decel.

2nd Tune Smooth decel much the same as the 20050 tune, a little more responsive in the low to mid range. Still popping

3rd Tune Smooth decel2. Holy *%#$ I feel like an orangutang. Much snappier throttle response across the rev range. I was under the impression that the original 20045 tune was 100% all gears secondary open etc, after the road tests I dont beleive that the secondaries were fully open at all. Acceleration with the Smooth decel was much more arm stretching than any of the previous tunes.
Still popping like a son of a.

I am not sure where to change the O2 sensor setting. Is this in the Tune edit program under edit\ tune constants\ the box is checked for the O2 sensor fitted. Do i uncheck this box as a temp measure until I fit the bypass?

Should this help with the popping on Decel?

I still have one more tune to try, the Jardine with PCIII map imported.

Thanks again Pig9 and also thanks to Heretic for the tip on "time for a beer"
I am pretty sure this is what got me through a tense moment for my 1st download.

Cheers:confused:

It Pays to do your homework

To all those who assisted me with my lack of computer skills thankyou.

I answered my own question with a bit more reading from this forum.

Found how to uncheck the O2 Sensor and saved it. Downloaded the smooth decel2 tune thanks to Pig9, took another test ride and the popping is all but gone, bike pulls like a train and gotta grin from ear to ear.

Once again to everyone who contributes to this forum. Thankyou for all the info and assistance. I will still physically remove the O2sensor and install the bypass when I get the part.

Cheers (off for another test ride:D)
