Please advise the newbie (i.e. ME :o)

Hey hey..

Thanks for all the replies, guys! Now I know I'm definitely in the right place.

I'm contemplating the hi-comp pistons and high lift cams route, and am wondering what's the best way to go about doing it. Everyone who is a pro is not near me (Carpenter and Neville Lush).

And I'm having some difficulty getting information like the costs and technicalities involved. (carpenter is quite clear on their site and I've been in slight communication with Art but I haven't been able to establish what way to go about it. Art recommends I ship the whole bike to them to do, but didn't give me a price or time frame yet)

I understand some of the captains here have had their heads sent to Bob in NJ. How much difficulty did your process of upgrading to stage 1 entail? Thanks!

A friend and member here,
just had carpenter do his bike
and they charged him about $8,000.
He's happy, so I guess it's money well spent.
To rich for my blood tho.
But that should give ya an idea of the price anyway.

Where ya at beast?

I hail from Singapore. Smallest country (land area) in the world. :)

$8,000 huh? Hmmm... I'm seriously hoping thats inclusive of the BRUTE exhaust as well. Coz that would work out to just over S$10,000 here. I'm not rich but I'm prepared to pay that for an additional 110 ponies. :D The bike here cost me US$26,000 second hand! :( But in that respect, it kinda makes the US$8,000 upgrade more justifiable, no? Or i guess I'm just sales pitching myself..

Only thing now is i have to find a way to ship the entire bike to Carpenter and ship it back when its done. That i believe is going to significantly increase the cost

We sure misinterpretted your original question.

No no no.. It is i who did not phrase the question well. My bad. And i early appreciate the sharing. Thank you. :D

Ahhhh, Singapore, my most favourite place on the planet by far. Lovely country. Too many great things about it to list :)

Just pop the engine off and send it over,
or just order the parts and put them in yourself,
should make for a much cheaper project.
I couldn't do it myself,
but you may be more qualified than me,
or know somebody that is..

On behalf of my country, I thank you for the wonderful compliments, sir.

I've spoken to my mech (the triumph dealers here) and he's very confident of installing g the Carpenter setup. So I guess I'll be opting for the mail order 240 package.

Will need a bit more time to save up though. So I'm thinking end of the year, I'll get my local mech to remove my cylinder head and I'll ship it to Carpenter along with the cams. And when he ships it back, I'll get the same mech to put everything back together before I take it down to the Dyno shop to tune.

Wanted to get an opinion on the carpenter brute exhaust though. (I'm assuming this is the 3 into 1 megaphone exhaust) Would it be significantly better than my full system Jardines? And very importantly, is it louder? (I want loud )
