Many of you post pictures, but for some reason I can not view them. Perhaps I am not opening them correctly or my computer is set up wrong or the security set up at work stops them. :?

Loads of possible reasons.

If you're dial up or have a slow broadband connection, maybe your server is timing out before the picture downloads.

Possibly your cache is full up, and needs emptying or enlarging.

Your companies IT boys are hard at work keeping out virus and secondary site loads. The pictures you're viewing are actually at photobucket.com, so when you open the thread it has to go load the pictures from a different source. Photobucket is an "entertainment" web site so your IT boys and girls have auto filtered those sites out so you get the text string but not the pictures. At home you haven't blocked all the "entertainment" sites so they load up automatically. Hope that fills in the gaps.
