Greetings Brain Trust, long time lurker, first time poster, new owner - 11 R3T, 2k virgin. Added AT. Laptop down hard for the moment and can't tap into PCV. Does AT activate automatically in default settings or do you need to activate it through the PCV? If it does auto-activate, what are the defaults? If it does not come on in default mode, will running the motor with it shut off harm the O2 sensor?

No you need to switch on the AT thru software in PCV not sure about damaging O2 sensor I would borrow a laptop from someone and not mess about, the sooner the better send me a PM with e-mail addres and I will send you my AFR map I created for our beasts also if you have not already done so get the TuneECU cable download the software and derestict her you won't know Oh and Welcome now go and introduce yourself properly so every one can say Hi

Hans knows his PCV/Auto tune ****. So I will answer to only question he was not sure on. If you run the bike without the O2 sensor activated it will burn it up. Probably about 100 bucks or so. So I would not insall the snsor until you get the laptop issue resolved to be safe.

I seem to recall there came a bung with the PCV otherwise I have heard guys say they used a 18mm bolt, correct me if I am wrong Please Scott (Warp9.9)

I am not sure when I get out of the whirl pool I will measure the bung plug I have. If you not ever going to use the OEM O2 sensor cut the wires it makes a good bung plug.

Good morning. Yes the A/T unit comes with an 18mm female bung to weld in the pipe for applications that do not have an O2 sensor. Strange, as all the Rockets seem to have an 18mm O2 sensor. I think the single O2 sensor kit is a universal application sensor.

Warp is right, if he runs it with out the 12 volt feed, the O2 sensor will carbon up and ruin it. I bet it's a bit more than $100.00 also!

Also on the subject of the weld in bung I think it may have come with the Auto Tune but it also came with the 18mm plug bolt and copper washer I just dug mine out of the DynoJet PCV box at back of the spare room

I make some of the parts used to modify the timing chain guide in the Carpenter kit. This is a requirement whenever you add stiffer valve springs to the R3 engine. It is not a must on OEM bikes but does not hurt I would not reccomend it unless the bike is being taken apart to change shims on the cam. Its does extend the life range of the tensioner by adding about 5 mm of material to the back of the guide which decreases the drop on the tensioner. It can fit the OEM tensioner and makes the APE usable on the bike no matter what springs you use. The APE has a smaller head on the tensioner which does not work well with the guide.APE no longer offers it for the Rocket because of this problem. You can lie to them and buy one for the busa but you will most likely have problems without the modification. It also works well with the Modified OEM tensioner I do because I do not want to rely on myself to adjust the manual one correctly and at the right intervals. I designed the fix and showed it to Bob with the idea that he could make them on his CNC but he would rather just buy them from me. So I continue to make them for him and a few others who need it. Like Les, and his nephew RKTRob this time along with one for Peter in Perth.
It works out good as soon I will have made enough money to get another Brute pipe for Gracie.
