Hey guys, ive recently noticed my oil light flicker when idling and I blip the throttle. It flickers when it returns to idle at the momentit dips slightly bellow idle and returns to normal idle. It does this when the engine is fully warned up on a hot day. Seems to be worse when stuck in traffic. Has anyone else ever notice this? Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't do that. What oil are you using? At what RPMs does your bike idle when it is warm? At what temperature does your radiator fan turn on?

I am with Ian, plus if I were you I would check to make sure the wire on the sending unit is secure and not vibrating from it being loose. just a idea that is easy to check.

if it was mine i would pull the oil sending and put on a pressure gauge to see whats happening.
may just be bad sending unit.
i don't know what it should be but maybe some one does.

I think I would do like you suggested with mine also Warp and put tuneecu to it and turn up the idle on her. Al

When's the last time you changed the oil (how many miles ago) and what type of oil are you using?

I do want to get a cable and tune ecu, asap, to turn up the idol. I have about 1500 miles on on the rebuild and have motul conventional mineral oil 10/40 in it for break in. Going to check the connection to the sending unit like Warp suggested and change the oil to redline 10/40 synthetic

Ok, I checked the connection to the sending unit and it was tight. I changed the oil redline synthetic 10/40. This would hold its viscosity better when hot but still does the same thing. Sometimes it seems to take a little longer to start the light flicker after changing to the synthetic oil and other times it no different. I think it's time to put the mechanical oil pressure gage on it to test it
