I know a few have had this. I looked, yeah don't say it, haven't ridden much since I got stuck with second shift, at my ride yesterday and noticed oil film from the area of up and behind the oil tank. Is that the tell tale sign of the O-ring leak? Not running oil mind you, just a capillary action. I haven't filled it so it isn't run off. If so, OK to ride 160 miles to dealer? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Brad

Oil Leak

Brad

I would not worry about it too much. Like you said....you have not been riding much.

If it was a wet spot...or dripping on floor Then I would make a trip to Dealer.

As I see it just put it on your "Dealer to Do List" next time your scooter is due to go to shop.

I had the same problem, leak under oil tank. Dealer addressed problem under warranty. Still have very minor leakage. Will take care of it this winter myself..need something to do.

Take care Jack - sometimes the dealers leave a wax finish on the engine that runs & looks like an oil leak from behind the tank when it gets hot. Not saying thats what it is - just that it could be.

Jack, take it back NOW. get the existence of an oil leak recorded.

"Take it back, Jack"

IF it becomes a problem in the future, you have the problem recorded. If all it needs a couple of bolts tightened, then they'll do that, and check the gaskets for you...

I plan to have everything checked over this week. Spoke with the dealer yesterday. He says it is osmolene (sp).

Jack, Could be cosmolene, If you wipe it off, and it returns, It's probably the O-Ring. Not a big deal, they just have to pull the oil tank and reseat it. just run it until it's time for the 600 mile service, keep an eye on the oil level. If it's really pumping it out, then yea get it fixed ASAP. But knowing you it'll be in this week to get the 600 mile service anywho!! :D

I've had it for a while - definitely oil, but very minor leak and hasn't effected the level in over 1000 miles. Gonna have them fix it under warranty at next oil change
