Even California, for all it's quirks and stupidity, has recognised that changing your auto oil at the interval of 3,000 miles (during "normal" use driving) is too much and is a big waste of oil...we are talking California here.

Yep, its my money - I'm stupid - and I waste oil, but I'm happy with it. Do it with all my vehicle's, even my everyday BMW drive - just cant do 20000 mile oil changes.

Anyway you must know the adage 'you cant teach on old dog new tricks'.

As for cost i dont think im going to go broke by changing my oil more often it isnt that expensive

In the EU it is against the law for manufacturers to insist on authorised dealer servicing, so in theory any VAT registered Auto Repair business can work on your vehicle without invalidating the warranty. However the reality is most people are 'frightened' to not use a main dealer, at least until the warranty is gone.

Yeah doesn't have to be a dealer but still a certified establishment I can't stamp my own book is all I'm saying. And I'm not bothered by spending the extra on oil . I do the same with my brake pads and tires they also get replaced before they are shot. Might not be needed but it's just the way I like to maintain it. Anyway it's probably better that way than those that go to the other extreme I guess

For Battersea...I apologize if you inferred that I thought you were stupid...I was not in any way. I was referring to the state of California and all of it's strangling regulations, high taxes, and "stupidity" in their state government in doing everything it can to make a once nice, beautiful state the epitome of laughter in the other 49 states of the US. If's its wacko you can believe it probably originated in California.

For all our California based members...the above was referring to the state government only. I, and I am sure most of the rest of us, symphatize with your predicament of having to live where you do.

California has a great many beautiful attributes that once lured people by the thousands to want to move and live there...now it appears to be going the opposite direction...and don't get me started about San Francisco.

Having driven thru the state in July and going thru the mountains to get to Redding and staying in Modesto as a jumping point for going to see the wonderful sites at Yosemite, going back across to see the Corbin factory at Hollister and then going south the next day to spend some time in LA...again...a beautiful state...and a great place to visit...but I am so glad I do not have to live there and deal with that beauracracy. Florida has it's own but nowhere near that crazy.
