Oil change end season vs start season?

Sulphur compounds are deposited in engine oil due to the combustion process. There is always some leakage from the cylinder around the rings. When these compounds mix with water that has condensed in your oil it creates an acid. If you've ever seen black stains on bearing surfaces you've seen the damage that this acid does. it will etch the babbit.
If I was going to store my bike I'd change the oil beforehand.

Thoughtful Questions ??? Has anyone seen any research reports on long term storage with the oil out of the engine and the drain plug left out ? Would fogging the engine like they do with boats be a useful way to store the engine for winter ?

Not too cold, between +10 and -10. And she's off the road 2 to 3 months depending on weather.

That is a really mild winter. When I lived in England I would change the oil at the end of the season and then just start riding at the start of the next. You will be fine.
