Since joining up here, I've been trying to soak up some of the techno points concerning the electronics that are so critical to R3's horsepower/torque. Here's my problem (other than being novice). When I bought the beast, it was part of an estate and the seller had absolutely no idea about what he was selling much less what it had in/on it. Same with the buyer (me). I have learned it does have a PCIII. The downside is, I have nothing else....no software or hardware. No idea what kind of tune is installed to compliment the Jardines and underseat K&N.

Here's what I plan and need direction(s) for succeeding. I'm supposed to have 3 under bearclaw pods on the way from Flip. Also a Tuneboy is hopefully enroute from the recent groupbuy. How/where do I learn to make the PCIII work with the Tuneboy and vicey versey? Does a light mysteriously come on when I get the Tuneboy and start reading the directions? I am so intimidated with the jargon that flies here to and fro. What about my total lack of PCIII knowledge?!? Would this be a find a good dealer situation? Just trying to get some direction to head in and not spin my wheels (no pun inteneded).

I'm overdue for a valve adj. (14K) miles but don't want to until I get the cams changed out. ... next thing on the list.

Also will be going darkside as the almost new Mezzler is half gone already, but that is a different issue altogether.

Much grass in advance to any assistance!

That is a really good question! If you have no knowledge of how the Tuneboy works, your best would be to find a "canned" tune that fits your bike. There are no instructions with the Tuneboy that will allow your "light" to come on other that how to hook it up to the bike. There is a list of canned tunes on this site that you can look through and download. All bikes are different and the only way to get the most out of your bike is to use a Dyno.
Good Luck.

Pig9r is a pro with both...I imagine he'll jump in before I get winded.

The PCIII is a post ECU signal modifier; that is, the infromation from the ECU is heading out and about then the PCIII rewrites the delivery list but it is quite limited in it's depth. The Tuneboy on the otherhand reprograms the ECU for many aspects. I don't believe you use both at the same time?? In as much as the previous owner has likely already had the fuel tables adjusted, you don't need the next step, until after you've changed the exhaust and air intake mods...When you're finished dinking around with intake and exhaust, you take your PCIII loaded bike to a dyno tuner. They tweak the fuel tables. Now you take the information that has been adjusted and stored in the PCIII and load it into an appropriate Tuneboy (TB) tune, by connecting the PCIII to the PC :D. Now you've incorporated the PCIII date into a TB tune. And now you make other adjustments as desired to the other TB tables.

I hope that's helpful.

Flick the PC111 but keep the O2 bypass(that will stop all the popping)
Get a tune off pigger or Tommo for your set up and then try to keep the front wheel on the ground;):D:D
