Hi All,

So I have a little wait for my new 2013 Roadster (Phantom Black) :(

Until mid-september I will be reading up on and maybe buying some bits for performance, luggage, comfort etc etc

So far I figure (but haven't decided on any makes/models in particular) the following:
  • Fly screen - where is the best place for these from the UK?
  • Pannier mounting system such as easy bracket (i.e. not an eye sore!)
  • Some black hard cases to fit the above type of rack
  • Sissy bar and rack (if in chrome will become black fairly rapidly)
  • Garman Zumo 600+ (I have a car TomTom in waterproof case with Ram mount at present)
  • Maybe ceramic coating of the exhaust pipes and cans

Then longer term after the warranty is over:
  • Cat removal
  • New shorter exhaust system (in black finish)
  • Upgraded ECU map via TuneECU

If you had an unmodified roadster model straight from the factory like me what you you go out and get for it / modify and why?

I'd take some time getting used to it and enjoying it, add some creature comforts and start planning my first trip away. Some essential improvements would be a louder horn and mirrors with a wider view (like ovals or tear drops). I also reckon the Kuryakyn ISO grips added hugely to the comfort, although some people don't like them. Be warned; once you start making it go faster you won't be able to stop. Plenty of people were just going to add some pipes but............ :D

Mate we understand you've got time on your hands until delivery date  but we've all been down this ' what should I do to my RIII before I even ride it ' path. As my learned friend suggested whack a few hundred kilometres up on it and you'll know what is needed to make it yours ;)

I put 7000 klms on mine before I "UNLEASHED" the beast.
As CanberraR3 said but also maybe rear shocks.

Screen Custom sculpted flyscreens - Don't worry he does plain ones too.

As for other changes. I understand that the way UK MoT's are done will change such that you'll need €-marked exhausts like the rest of us poor sods in the EU. When? - I'm not sure - ask about.

Nah phuck that, I'll tell you what to do.

go back to the dealer...........

Crunch a better price subject to buying a second one......

Send it straight to Neville Lush and tell him to make it mono at 200k's before he sends it back.

In the interim check your tyre pressure on the second bike and fill it with fuel...ride the ****in thing...

When Lushie sends it back to you ride it whilst you send your stock one back...tell him...this time make it fast!!!!

You get the drift right....

If not, let me tell you....you're too ****in slow to own a rocket! :D

The drift is, once you start you open a never ending twisting, windy, undulating road that simply never ever ends. 1 thing for sure, you'll love 80% of the time you own it. 10% you'll be wishing it was back home sooner from the modification shop and the other 10% you'll wish it wasn't hailing outside.

Good luck mate, hope your 80% ends up being 100% for you.

Welcome.

I've got a 2013 matt black R3 Roadster, so far I've put on it (other than a ****load of grin inducing miles) a matt black MRA screen as here
and a pair of Dave Platt's massively sexy, loud, growly, short, light de-catting exhausts, along with a remap from my local Triumph dealer. That'll do for now! :D

GI Pro was the first thing I ordered even before I took possession of my R3R because I love torque. I'd suggest, if you aren't used to the massive power of the R3 you should wait a while before installing one.

Thanks all, the chances are I wont do a thing to the bike at first except ride it, my SMT is only now being performance modded after 2 years of ownership and 15K miles...all it had done before now was having a travel kit and a scott oiler fitted.

The R3 will not be messed with much for some time with the exception of fitting a flyscreen and cissy bar/rack and perhaps the covering up of some chrome ;)

I'll likely be getting the first service done within 2 weeks of taking it away from the dealer then it'll be weekend jaunts a plenty I hope, as well as some little evening excursions :)

Riding first, modding and admiring comes second for sure!

I just want to do a little window shopping and get a feel for what is possible with the bike now whilst I am suffering through withdrawal.....I might ask if I can have another demo ride soon if it gets too much :)

Triumph teardrop mirrors !!!!!!!!
Get rid of the Mickey Mouse ears
The tear drops give you a much better view and look so much better
And they come in black
Along with the Rivco risers
That and the fly screen along with visors for the lights
But at least the mirrors
Get the mirrors !!!
