new tech options

I'd seen the early designs where you'd need a special helmet with it all fitted in but I didn't know there was something like this around the corner! Looks very good from the picture and at that price tag it's not too far out of reach...shame I spent on a new Garmin recently....

edit: Still not launched, going throiugh kickstarter for funding...

Looks a bit bulky but it is early days...and if it has a HD camera built in too then the bulk is less of an issue

Fighter jocks and attack guys have had something like this for awhile now and some helicopter bubbas are getting them too. I tried one out a few years ago that had an internal battery for when I disconnected from the helicopter’s power/intercom to dismount and retrieve a fallen troop. Our helmets were open face with the visor pulled down and worked pretty well for telling us the helicopter’s info like airspeed, altitude direction and so on.
For motorcycle riding with my full face helmet, I have to look down and away from the direction I am going to see the speedo. If I rode a R3R I know the gauges would be higher and not an issue. I have found that when I am in the mountains or other twisty roads, that riding by the seat of my pants (I don’t look down in these cases) is almost unforgiving on the R3T; almost. If I had the relevant information in my visor, I think I would be a little safer when I am pushing the limits of machine, road and myself. I agree that it needs a longer life though or maybe connected to the bikes power source. So, I’m for it.

agreed it need better battery life and a tap for power, but Ithey had a local release here.
They are here in San Diego

Looks like an awesome idea!!
Seem to remember there was something similar on the market (iirc Scott has/had one) - died a death.

It'll need to be CHEAP enough - and it's the nail in the coffin for most of these start up initiatives. Most totally underestimate the R+D costs. If it was going to be REALLY popular somebody like Schuberth would have already thought of them as an option.

I'd like a HUD on the windscreen rather than the lid. Also not sure I'd want to ride with reading glasses on just to see it. And it has no obvious dipotric adjustment.

Translation please!!?
Simply disappeared off the market - Commercial Failure.

To make something like that viable - either requires a VERY elite target audience (so volume sales do not matter), or has to be SO useful as to be near indispensable or has to be cheap. It's none of those. But I applaud the initiative, really. It also had better be light in weight and will (I think) need to be open helmet affix-able.

Ask yourself this - How many cars have such a facility?. Not many. I've used HUD in a car - it's good esp at night on long runs (dim all dash lights to almost off). But the after-market sector for such devices is small - there are options but either too expensive or so cheap they're simple speedos.

About a year ago a Taiwanese mfr announced a really good device for dash mount (GPS - link to OBD-2). We talked to them about importation and sales. The sales volumes required to break even were huge. And the price was going to kill volume sales.
