New Rocket reliability

11.6k mi on it last season; first year on it. No “problems”. At season’s end service, dealer noted a soft rubber seal around the clutch switch’s plunger got a pinhole in it - no idea - dealer was good about resolving it. Stuff happens.

Otherwise, I keep fresh final drive and engine oil in it, and ride the well-mannered beast all over.

I have the same cut in the seal. Can I ignore it or do I have to get the seal replaced?

Don’t know for certain. Shop said “has to be replaced,” and they covered it, so was a minor inconvenience and no big decision.

On the one hand, it’s just a dust boot. On the other hand, it’s the piston actuating your motorcycle’s clutch. I’ve no idea how long it would take contaminant/corrosion to affect function.

I'll get mine changed then. It will probably take 2 months just to get the seal

That was one of the arguments on why local dealer was shutting down, they said it takes for ever to get parts and customers get ugly thinking that the dealer is slacking. BMW is no better, it took 9 months for them to send an engine under warranty once it was approved.

I have made a mutually acceptable deal with the seller on the purchase of this bike. Sending a deposit check today and will pick up the bike next week. Thanks again Lupe.

So I'm going to need some good advice from the Forum on setting it up for more power and touring comfort. I'll start a new thred later this week for that. But feel free to comment here.

You can add 30HP on top with TuneECU if it hasn't been done already., by simply fiddling the ETV tables There are Youtube videos that show you how to do it. The only gotcha with that is it kills cruise control until you run a switch check. Agfish18 just did that on his 2023 GT and found out the cruise disappeared until he ran the switch check.
