I miss my street legal dune buggy for taking a wild hair to follow a dirt road into the forrest or mountains.
To me the very low profile of the duner sux . . . and, I do like the power and better vision sitting on my Roadster.
As for the cross winds . . . gain weight! :p

Congrats on the wee strom. My first bike was an SV650, had the same engine...a cracking little motor that should be trouble free...it's been around longer that the rocket engine with as few changes so is rock solid.

If you want any help on the motor you couldn't do any better than saying hello on the sv650 forum, nice bunch on there that will always give you some time...lots have stuck with an sv based bike in the stable for as long as I've known of them and know a thing or three about them.

I've been eyeing the ktm 1190 if I somehow come by the means to get a second bike. Would be nice to hit up some of the 4x4 trails here in Colorado. Visit some of the old ghost towns. The idea of going from street to off road performance with a few button pushes appeals to me.

V-Stroms are very popular bike and very solid, just Glad you are not getting rid of the Rocket, If I could afford a second bike would likely go for the Triumph 800 adventure myself to hell with the Insurance, over here we have Shannons who do good deals on multiple bike policies

This past August I spend two days on one of those.
I only rode around Missoula, MT while waiting for my Excedra Max to come in.
It was a nice "little" ride.

One of the most tech advanced bikes out there, would love to have one as well.

Thanks Kaivalagi. I joined the Stromtrooper forum.

Thanks Hanso, the strom does have a reputation for reliability. Then again my Rocket has been very reliable also. But its old and I don't feel like putting the money into it to do all the needed upgrades. I can't believe it has been as reliable as it has, the valves have only been checked once at 10k miles and I still have the original fuel filter.

A bike is going to have to be on helluva ride in order for me to pay 5 times the insurance. I already have one helluva bike, the Rocket, its paid for and I only have liability on it. Just 50 bucks a year for the beast and 140 for the strom with full coverage. I can buy a lot of gas with the savings.

Shannons are owned by SUNCORP ..didn't know that until the other day. Rang them to ask about claiming on my rusty petrolcap lock on the Speedie. Seems that there advertising that they "share our passion for older vehicles , yada , yada ... they don't cover rust ... arseholes like all insurance companies.
