Cruise working
Just took a ride and working perfectly, rethought remote unit for control in case of malfunction opted to hard wire control (can be mounted either side.)
Had to install speed sensor which worked out. mounted sensor off license plate and mounted small magnets on inside of rear wheel. wheel

So are you saying that the wireless switch unit that you had velcro'd to the underside of the throttle side switches can be hard-wired into the controller? or did you have to buy another switch unit?

Can you expand on the speed sensor issue? Did the Rostra unit not have the proper configurations to work with a triple or what?

I'm very, very close to springing for this unit so any insight is appreciated.

Speed sensor Rocket 3

To try to answer your question, Triumph was not very cooperative with info on speed sensor. I tried to hook to r3 but made my speed o go haywire, to be technical lol so I purchased the cruise control sensor to work on the r3.

I think what he's alluding to is that the Rostra Global Cruise won't properly sense the wave form from the R3's VSS sensor. Rostra states (on their website that it does sense square, full and half wave VSS forms on 3-4-6 and 8 cylinder engines.

Instead, he placed magnets on th rear wheel rim and a Hall effect sensor hard mounted somewhere stationary (I presume the half swingarm on the right side). That makes it (Rostra unit) very similar in opration to the CSS100 Audivox vacuum pulled servo unit you can get all day for half the price. I presume (though he don't state) that he used 7 stick on magnets. The problem with that is going to be tire balance. Between the stick on wheel weights and the magnets, there is a whole bunch of rotating mass on the inner rim.

Once you get past the vacuum servo on the CSS 100, the mechanics of throttle pull is exactly the same, no difference.

Rostra lists the part numbers and specifications on their website www.Rostra.com as well as stocking dealers and distributors. Rostra also lists the remote actuation awitch in the catalog.

The Cruise unit is: 250-1223
The remote switching unit is: 250-1483

He used hook and loop tape but you could have it in your pocket. It's infrared. Rostra also offers many other variations, some could be adapted to 1" diameter bars using one of my handlebar clamps with a different small end bore.

The units are pretty readily available and the bracketry to mount the cable pull on the actuator on the TB's is straightforward, something that any of you, well, most of you could fab up in an hour or so.

There has been great success mounting the unit on Kawasaki Versys twins, it's actually the hot setup for cheap cruise. Googgle it up and take a look.

No snake oil here, just some common sense and some readily available components.

does anyone have a picture of the connector?

am installing the Rostra version of the Audiovox ccs-100 cruise control similar to the one on this page.

does anyone have a picture of the connector used to couple the cc cable to the throttle bellcrank? went thru every connector and found nothing that seemed to work.

a picture would be great along with how you got it coupled. if you have a part number and vendor name, all the better.

thanks...
