I've found a 2010 Roadster with 25k miles and a really good price. The only thing that bugs me is that both front rotors are ready for replacement. The owner, according to folks that know him, isn't a real aggressive rider. Is it normal to wear rotors, specifically warp, so quickly?

Thanks

No, Steve, that's not even close to normal. I'd suspect that the owner replaced his brake pads when he was metal on metal, thus overheating and warping the rotors. Given that one symptom, I'd have the bike looked over and certified, if possible, by a qualified Triumph dealer/mechanic, as there might be more issues with it than meets the eye (i.e., were the valves inspected and/or adjusted per the maintainance schedule and were the drivetrain splines properly lubricated at least once every 10K miles?)

BTW, welcome to the site!

Thanks. Otherwise it seems pretty well taken care of. It was purchased at the local dealer and all regular maint was done.

My rotors on my Touring warped at 20,000 miles, and it was not brake pad related. With that said I have no idea how they warped but they did.

Welcome Steve
What phil said x2

Thanks folks. The warping worries me abit. I'm a motorcycle safety instructor and demo on my bikes quite often. Since I go through 8 or 9 really good quick stops a week, I'd hate to buy a bike that requires me to buy these EXPENSIVE rotors every few months.

Done 110,000 klms on my Rocket .. still on original discs.

Lost the back brake chasing Bruce on Sunday  bad habit a dabbing the back brake when about to take a corner at speed. Only ever had it happen once before , similar situation .. fast through a twisty mountain range.

I recently replaced my front rotors at about 55,000kms. They weren't warped or even scored but there was too much front to rear play in rivets between the rotor and carrier. Warping would have to be caused by excessive heat and rapid cooling I'd think.
