Need ideas for winter projects!

That suck with your weather.
I'm quess Im lucky seems like I can get out at least twice a month.
We have salt also I just wait for some rain then take a ride a day or two later.

You are definitely lucky, living south enough that you arent literally covered in snow for 6 months straight... last year we had the Ice-storm which decimated the city, we lost power for a week.. it was horrible. There is absolutely no way to get out during the winter... salt, slush, ice and mud a good ride dont make. If I lived a little more south, I would definitely consider some heated gear and go for it... but up here, we suck.

This is the first I've heard that Roadsters do not need an EB kit. If anything, I would appreciate the brigher light output with power coming straight from the battery... I have trouble seeing at night so if there is any benefit at all to adding brighter bulbs and more light output, its worth it to me!
iirc The roadsters POST 2011 come with the equivalent of an EB relay kit fitted - Triumph issued one as a FOC factory upgrade on 2010 models. I'd have a chat with the tech's at your dealer.

imho the standard Triumph headlamp units are quite simply RUBBISH. Even with relays the light does NOT go where it's needed. I have a 2009 and made my own relay system.

Options -

Well a good 5&3/4" lamp (like the Cibie - which are being made again)

LED there are currently 3 options - JW-SPEAKER (who now do a 12V only version that's cheaper), HD Daymakers made by JW-Speaker or the new Rivera Primo Phase3 which is a fair bit cheaper. http://www.riveraprimoinc.com/html/newprod1.html

You could just add some LED spots.

I doubt you'll find anybody who's fitted LEDS to see with at night who would happily go back to Halogen.

Thats a little weird, I am certain for sure there people on this board who have the EB relay fitted to there 2011+ roadsters... Your telling me that installing the EB kit will make no difference whatsoever for my 2012 Roadster? If so I'll have to sell it and get my money back.

I also bought the relay because I was worried about the ignition switch issue, even if it has nothing to do with the light output itself, I want to be protected...

I'll check out those Scanguages. Thanks!!

The Triumph fix for the headlights is not as functional as the EB kit. You can still install it and get the dazzling bright lights that you are wanting.

Winter Project? How about trying to relocate to a warmer state for next year? In the recession of '82/'83, I had to find a job after being laid off. So I moved to southern Arizona and started over. We're in the 70's and 80's in November. A brutal winter day will be 60's and sunny. The scenery is fantastic. Now I have 3 road bikes and ride all year. I'll never move back to cold country. Life is too short to waste 6 months a year waiting to ride.

Bernard I am so ready to move down south. I was just in Arizona in may for a road trip adventure and we loved it!

Sadly I am still waiting for the paperwork for my green card for 12 years. I recently got married and that is now delaying my application longer now. I hate this process! My parents are even sponsoring me as they are us citizens but still taking this long to get my visa.

We'd love to have rain here in the winter. The best we can hope for is freezing rain which comes down wet but freezes solid over your whole car and takes ages to to chip off in the morning!
