2006 Triumph Rocket 3

Triumph Rocket III Classic

p.s. I wouldn't necessarily say the issues were worked out by 07. I had an 08 R3T (good riddance) for a bit over a year. I had quite a few issues including a blown head gasket and the clutch lifter shaft snapped in half. Mine pretty much spent equal time in my garage and the dealer's garage. Additionally, my bikes are well taken care of and are not abused.

i was also looking at the new roadster which i think is really sharp, but i didn't want to get a new one. the touring is toned down as far as horsepower, but the torque is still there in an abundance. then i was looking in craigslist and found an 08 classic that already had the tors exhaust along with the cat delete kit. the color is the dark red metallic/cream white, and it looks like it's in showroom condition. it also came with the roadster taller windshield and it's still about 3" too short for me, but that's okay and fixable. the bike had 3,000 miles on it, and i got it from a guy who was turning 70 years old and the bike actually frightened him so he sold it to get a goldwing. i got it for $9,200.oo and i feel like i got a great deal. for me, i really like the classic which is no longer made. they have the footboards and two tone paint. i would have gladly got a r3 standard and i'd have been very happy with it. look around, you may find a used one in great shape that hasn't been abused. there is sure the allure of a brand new bike though. i know that when i walk out to my shop and get ready to go riding, i look at my newly acquired rocket 3, and my 08 streetglide, and my harley has been collecting lots of dust since i got the rocket.

i got an 09 r3t. had the same prolbem as rocketdaryl with cluth lifter shaft braking. i say get the bike you want. if you plan on rideing a lot and keeping the bike i would buy new. 2 year warranty unlimted miles from date of purchage. got good deal on ebay bought sept 10 a leftover. paid 12,000 + 500 shipping. sold me. there are good deals on new leftover bike's you just have to look

Hey Kajoh

I just picked up an '07 myself (hope the issues were ironed out before this one was built).

I just got word that Sturgess in Hamilton will be getting a used R3 in( possibly this week). It's an '08 or '09 (don't remember) and is black. I was told it would be going for around $14K. You may want to give them a call... Ask for Dave

Cheers

Jthree

On the other hand, I have an '04 model with 63,000+ miles with no mechanical issues at all. It had the output shaft bearing recall done at the dealer and I've have had the TPS issue once, but I would ride anywhere in the country right now on it. I'm taking a little trip to Shreveport, LA later this month for a few days..
