My two bobs(quarter) worth

That's a good looking tread pattern. Now you should consider moving the plate up onto the fender (look to Britman's for inspiration) to show off the tire.

Thanks Phil,
I like it, an the lyrics seem to fit pretty well too huh?

You're welcome, Sir! Yes, those lyrics fit very nicely as well as having other interesting implications.:D

I think you should nominate that as the official anthem over on the mcdarksiders.forumotion site!

Getting back on topic, i decided not to "get the feel" of my Rock with the stock tire on it. I feel strongly that switching to a CT on these bikes is a major safety play, so i'm shopping for my Toyo now and it will go on the bike with my dresser bars, highway pegs, GI pro and progressive 440s when I return from my vacation in a couple of weeks. Then it's "let the games begin!":D Man, I can't wait.

I just fitted TOYO proxies to my girlfriends' Miata back in the UK before I came out here to the USA of A for 6 months - they are STICKY STICKY tyres, all the rage in the UK for cars that want the ultimate in performance (autotests, track days etc), so mebbe this is the way to go - I'm just worried about cornering on a right angle!!!:D:eek::D:eek::confused::eek:

No worries, mate, you'll actually corner safer and better with the CT. it just requires more countersteer which, for most, will come quite naturally after a few miles. Joker turned me on to the T1R months ago and my research indicates tha, per my riding style, that tire will give me the biggest bang for my buck! BTW, he's running a 235 HP monster on the Darkside, if you didn't already know!

Hi again Phil,

Yes I have been catching up with Joker's old posts, he is a very entertaining character, LOL, him talking about Yamaha FS1Es at 16, I did the same thing, LOL - I picked my bike up in TN with 5800 on it, had 1000 on a new metz, it now has 7800, so i guess the tire has 3000 on it, has a nice flat spot in the middle, cos we have no bloody curves here on the beach in FL, don't get the chance to lean it much, only at slow speeds - anyhoos, I'm bringing Das Byke back to Blighty next month, and the roads there are of course a lot twistier - I always ran Avons on my race Lotus7/Caterhams, loved them and the company, so will check out what they have to offer - I need to read all the darkside posts, maybe give it a try - I always did prefer brunettes tbh too!!!:D:D:p:p:p

Hey Phil,

Quickie - anyone using a slightly wider DS tire? Mebbe 10 or 20mm wider, whatever can get under the stock rear fender? Just curious...???

Cheers!

Andy

Yes< Anders, a 245/50 16 will just fit without modding or grinding anything to accomodate it. It will compromise your handling a bit more than the smaller sizes, but those that run the fat meats seem to really like them, especially in the looks department.

The 225/55 16 keeps you closest to stock geometry and also happens to be the most accurate tire-based speedo correction you can get short of purchasing Healtech's SpeedoHealer.

When are you going back over the pond?

Hmmm, cheers Phil, that is

VELLY VELLY interesting!!!:D

I am kinda tempted TBH if I go 'dark' by the FatMeats (tm) (LOL!) that you have christened, in that I prolly need to slow myself down a bit!!!:D:D

I don't see what a few mm here and there left right up down will do to such a beast, esp as I am currently a FB a la Joker -

Didn't know about the speedohealer but then I am feckin blind and don't ever look at the speedo!:D:D:D

back over mid april for the regatta, if you are ever in henley, look me up!

Used to be a competitive sailor meself back in the day!

This is Olympic Class oars and skulking Phil, whores and skulling, Olympic Class! And little birds at the rear, steering 8 hairy-arsed daddies-boyz from harvard and prince town, LOL! I fancy being a cox meself, in fact, I am cut out to be a major major cox, people keep telling me this, Andy, they say to me, regularly, you are a right old cox mate, my old son, a right old cox, and, I pay attention to my groupies, not much slips past me, so I have old age, stealth, cunning and guile, not necessarily in that order, to replace one of those skinny birds on the harvard or eton boat, but I fear, and that fear I do not take lightly, is that my darkside triple-hull, a la the titanic, would indeed sink the blessed boat if I sat in the back to steer it to undoubted victory! :D:D:D
