Plenty of room all around the tyre even with my leatherlyke bolts still in place, I have about two hundred miles on it now and next to no difference in handling even on uneven roads, a car tyre is a car tyre you will never get one that looks like a bike tyre, I will try this for a while if I do not like it I will go back to the good old avon or metz.
Dennis a local bike shop mounted the tyre no questions asked.
Young guy mounted the tyre as I was telling him the horror storys about getting the rear tyre off the rim, he had it off in two minutes or less and said who ever has trouble getting this tyre off does not know what they are doing or they do not have decent enough equipment.

Whew! Glad you survived that encounter. The Metz slide is the PRIMARY reason for going dark myself. The Metz is a safety hazard, IMHO.

OK you know better than me, I am still very new to this Rocket game, I've read in a few road tests that the R3 rear brake is very very good, translated, if used say on a bend, too hard, it can throw you off... anyhoos another lesson learned today!

The only DS surprise that you're likely to encounter is when you go off road on a uneven surface (broken pavement, ruts, etc.) and the rear end will lean and induce a little tail steer. In these instances , be ready to get your feet down quickly or better yet, if conditions permit, hit the gas a little to keep er' straight.

You will notice the extra counter steer effort from DS on the twisties that Steve has setup for the first day or so and then muscle memory will eventually set in. Confidence in cornering is good.

The extra power and good handling of the Rockets make the twisties more enjoyable, but the added weight takes it toll on the rubber and pads. At least, the DS rear don't flat strip after 2K highway miles. By the way, after doing some research on pads, I learned that the front pads are organic and rear are sintered metal OE explaining the more aggressive action on the rear.

Cool. Still can't quite bring myself to going dark, I guess I am a bit of a purist. But in a straight line the contact patch has to be way wider than a standard Metz

I've got the Eagle sitting in the garage waiting for the 2nd Metz to wear thin. I thought about what youre saying for along time, finally decided the bike is a wierdo and a car tire has got to work better than whats on it now. As much as the bike weighs it must have a bigger contact patch even when cornered on a c/t. It's hard to argue with all the evidence FOR the dark side, all those guys can't be wrong. I'm scared of the metz now anyway commuting to work in the dark 50 miles. It's tried to dump me more times than I can count just from night time, temperature caused damp spots.
