Muscle bike shoot out

Got a speeding ticket today. Heard the siren and saw the lights, I kept going, could not imagine it was for me. Well, it was, cop said it took 5 miles to get my attention. I was a bit frozen after 3 hours in the saddle at 45-50 degrees. Cop said I was doing 20 over I said I was 10 over. Just wanted to get home and warm up, on a lonely country road. I was following a pickup truck! WTF? Calibrate that POS radar once in a while. Oh well, fair is fair. I burned out from the stop sign at 100MPH before he saw me. Was on a HD Roadster, good thing it was not the R3 our I would be "sans a license" and minus one bike right now.

PS: No matter what you do to a R3 it will not keep up with a V-Max. That's a good thing.

I think I am going to start collecting Vespas after I lose my license.

Frankly, I didn't know a Hardley with a rubba band drive would do a burnout unless you placed the front wheel against an immovable object and dumped the clutch.....a hundred? Your speedo must be more optimistic than the R3's.

You keep that crap up and you won't be able to afford insurance let alone have a license. You'll be having a fire sale on those bikes and I'll be buying.......

We need to turn Hombre loose on the V-Max... If he can just keep his back tire from flying off:)

Time for blue glue.

So everyone understands, with extra spacing for Flip

The Rocket Got Its ARSE KICKED BIG TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE:mad:

WHAT ELSE WOULD ANYONE EXPECT UP AGAINST A VMAX

Can't win 'em all. Walt can make a good attempt at it however. I'd hate to see the insurance premium on the Max.

The Vmax has a cruising range of 82 miles?!?! WTF are you supposed to do with that? How on earth are they expecting anyone with half a brain to go for a bike that gets 20mpg and goes less than 100 miles before you have to start pushing? And this thing is supposed to be in the cruiser category with R3's and HD's? Thats not a cruiser, thats a sprint-to-the-filling-station bike. Has Yamaha just crapped itself and is trying to convince me it's pudding? I was a Yamaha fan most of my life, but putting a bike out there that only travels 82 miles is purely a desperate effort to build the fastest death machine possible with no reguard for practicality. If I see some poor shmo riding one I'll have to laugh my ass off. (I have a feeling I'll see alot of them stopped at the gas station)

Filling up every 82 miles if you don't thrash her is just going to wear the gass cap out!!!!

I'll stick with my R3 as I think it will beat them times as for my air filter on the right side of the bike it makes it easier to inspect and clean then getting at it under the seat!

My 02 Vmax will only score 85-100 before the gas light. It's not as fast as the new one obviously, but it's still quicker than a Rocket III. Modded or not. :) (N/A)

From the give it gas and go aspect, nothing touches the rocket. You can't argue with 150ftlbs of torque. Shifting is largely moot. It's like a tractor with regard to power output

YO HERO JUST RAN THE NEW MAX at ATCO 9.9@141.85 for the first 9 second run it is fast BUT our modded ROCKET runs away from it and dont mess with the likes of HOMBRE cause youll be embarassed:D

HP/ torque figures per the test

(neatly in a line so old farts can enjoy too):p

V-Max 170 @ 8750 RPM / 109@ 6500 RPM

V-Rod Muscle 109 @ 7750 Rpm / 80.2 @ 6250

Rocket 140 @ NA / 147@ NA

Hammer 79.9 @ 4550 RPM / 94.2@ 2800 RPM

I really think the M109 would have been right at home in this test. I would expect it would get the best bang for the buck award and closely match the Rocket in times and torque. If they would get a decent suspension package and get it off the ground it would hit the mark for more bikers. I for one like the feel of a big bike underneath me. Size matters;)
