I figure your 9000 RPM NA Super Rocket for mid nines if you lighten it. What do you think?

If I had the Ching!!!!!!

I happened to be at the local bike shop when a guy was in there picking up his new V-Max. I was heading out of the door when I happened to glance over and see it sitting on the showroom floor. Say what you want, ****ty gas mileage, poser bike, I don't care, that is one awesome motorcycle. I talked to the new owner who was waiting for the final paperwork to be done. He had been on a waiting list for well over six months and what was impressive, the old fart was my age. He had two other V's at home in his garage and this was crown jewel in his collection. I think the Max riders are allot like the R3 crowd. It is another cult motorcycle that has affinity and following for speed. I remember the earlier advertisements when the bike first appeared on the market, you had to document your riding ability to do a test drive because of the performance. If I had a choice between an new Rocket and a new V-Max. I would really have to think long and hard. Just my opinion and we all know what they are like.

the new Vmax will draw a crowd for the next year or two. The rocket III, after 5 years, STILL draws a huge crowd. People want to know what it's like to ride 2.3 liters of motorcycle. The novelty of the RIII will out live the novelty of the new Max. The V4 has been done before in several iterations. Nothing howls quite like that massive inline 3.

WE WILL FIND OUT SOON just waiting for the weather to break so can do some more road testing and then to the track we go So far we have been out on the road picking on the sport bikes and it certainly is fun they dont expect a big cruiser to blow them away

hah!

that's got to be funny as hell! I'd love to do this little sleeper mod, but I'm already committed to nev's cams and a turbo soon after. I do know what it's like to shock sport bikes though, they're a lot of fun on launches and street lights...:D

The only problem with the Vmax is the handling. They have always been known as a straight line bike. The new one got slammed by the B-King in test. The VMax is a little to expensive for me. Not up to par with my Rock but cost about a grand more without the windscreen or bags. I will keep the Triumph.

Turbo

HOW DOES THE BIKE RUN ?? any dyno numbers ??

HP/ torque figures per the test

(neatly in a line so old farts can enjoy too):p

V-Max 170 @ 8750 RPM / 109@ 6500 RPM

V-Rod Muscle 109 @ 7750 Rpm / 80.2 @ 6250

Rocket 140 @ NA / 147@ NA

Hammer 79.9 @ 4550 RPM / 94.2@ 2800 RPM

I really think the M109 would have been right at home in this test. I would expect it would get the best bang for the buck award and closely match the Rocket in times and torque. If they would get a decent suspension package and get it off the ground it would hit the mark for more bikers. I for one like the feel of a big bike underneath me. Size matters;)

I posted early last fall that I had a little go with a 109 down in Toledo. I know the guy who owns it and my sorry arse mopped him between lights. He pulled me off the line, through first but I caught him in second and pulled ahead in third and then had to heat the brakes for the next light. I did it 3 times and we both felt that it would be better to stop at BK for a Pepsi. 109's are having transmission problems so I'm told, not that R3 are problem free......:p

THE TRICK WITH THE VMAX is to lower rear tire pressure and heat the tire with a good burnout WE ran 9.9 141.85 and we will go faster the stock tire is slippery and the magazine guys cant ride once the MAX gets a grip it beats the BKING easy and the new MAX handles great you have to change the ECU to the optional race ECU to remove the restrictions to allow it to reach 170mph ;)

Compared to the Bking, yeah, it's no contest. The Bking is based off the Hayabusa. Naturally, it's going to turn a bit better.
