My R3 is having problems that feels as if its starving of fuel or spark or something when its put under load from 3000rpm upwards and particularly "pig -rooting" between 4000 & 5000 RPM in any gear. The Injector Jets have been checked ,theyre fine ,replaced the plugs and no faults showing up on the ECM.The air cleaner has been cleaned but not replaced yet.Had some dodgy connections to my coil making it only running on two cylinders months ago,but my mechanic sorted that out after my ECM light come on, whereas this is an ongoing problem.I did have some rust problems in my tank (those crimped edges on the tank are a trap for rust!) from water either from bad petrol or condensation, but i have cleaned out the tank with compressed air rather thoroughly and put in a new fuel filter.
Any one have a clue what it could be? :?[/i]UPDATE!! LOOSE COIL WIRE FROM VIBRATIONS PRODUCED WHILST REVVING MOTOR, WAS THE CULPRIT :D

Called the dealer and made an appointment for next week for my yearly service. Told him about the same problem. He said he's had 2 rockets in there in the last month with TPS going bad. He thinks mine may be the same as all three complaints are the same..Feels like bad gas, or fouled plug.. good luck, xhdskip

I think i have eliminated the fuel problem possibilities, so i tend to agree thats its electrical, but i am still at the mercy of the mechanic as i know nothing of sparky stuff.I did come up with a groovy way of cleaning the rust outta the tank though ,Dry it out over 4 days , put a welding magnet in a surgical glove, inside the tank, then spray with compressed air inside with a little bit of plastic tube attached to the spray nozzle to protect the tank .You can clean out all the nooks and crannies with compressed air that way , and it is attracted to the magnet, which when taken outta the glove, falls off easily so you can repeat procedure over and over till theres no more .I then put a hair dryer in the tank to remove any moisture left from the compressed air.I filter all my fuel through a "mr Funnel' now so no water or impurities get in that way.Only condensation that forms inside the tank is the enemy now , so keep ya tank full as much as possible.

I've been experiencing a "similar" problem. It's been at the dealer's for most of four weeks now. They've been back and forth with the factory and have finally "decided"....it's a Throttle Positioning Sensor". Sounds like a coil problem to me. Oh well, when they FINALLY get one in, we'll see if they were right. Can't believe they can't find the part. What a rinky-dink company. If I didn't just love this bike it would be GONE!!!!
