:confused:I have a 2006 Rocket III with 9,500 Miles. It has been flawless since new. But suddenly it has developed a strange issue. When under moderate acceleration it will jolt as if the key has been momentarily shut off and on. It lasts just a split second but it is obviously serious. As soon as it recovers it will run normally for a while then if I crank the throttle it will do it again. I have contacted the dealer which is 3 hours away and they said they have not heard of this issue before. Before I put it on a trailer and haul it to them I thought I would post here and see if anybody has had or heard of this issue. At the advice of the dealer I performed the 12 minute tune but that did nothing for the issue. It idles normally and runs perfectly smooth except for these strange hiccups. The bike has Jardines that were dealer installed at time of purchase and they also performed the remap at time of installation and then again at the 500 mile service. It has not been back to them since as it has never had any other issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Read about the ignition switches, mine just crapped out on an 06. See post title "AwwwwwwwCrap", then look at keyless Ignition Mod with pics. Almost willing to bet it's in the switch. Start bike a in N and wiggle wires at base of switch to see if you can get it to "blip".

There are smarter folks on here though. Hold out for other opinions.

100% sure that it is the primary throttle position sensor. Old part numbers with the black innards tend to develop a flat spot at certain revs which lead to surging and cut outs. Mine did this around 65 mph. Changed out the tps with the new part number (blue innards) and no such trouble for 20k miles.

Thanks but no joy

I ran it for about 5 minutes and pulled and pushed the ignition switch wires in every direction but it did not miss. It only seems to do it in mid to hard acceleration and then around 4,000 RPM. If I just run it up to freeway speeds very slowly it doesn't act up. But if I give it some throttle to pass or ? it will do it 2 or 3 times until I let off the throttle again.:(

Any ideas are appreciated...Thanks

This is not the ignitions switch problem. However, I would advise that you get the H4 Headlight Relay kit before you do, and you will, have ignition switch problems.

You are describing the primary tps issue.
