Mad Max

If they had used Triumphs they would still be filming the first MadMax

That's a bit harsh the late 60's up to the present time they've always been a reliable bike. Personally the British bikes have more appeal. Even Kawasaki brought out the 650 then the 800 to try and compete with triumph ,and they did a pretty good job of it.only close up you can tell the Kawasaki has not got the quality finish of the triumph.only my opinion of course

I have a Yamaha XS1100 and it will outrun a KZ 900 it will not just outrun it will make it look bad to

Kwaka 900 was about 1973 Yamaha XS1100 was about 1981. In 1981 I had a Kwaka 1000J and it would outrun an XS1100 and make it look big and heavy in the twisties. Nothing stock from the factory could beat a Kwaka 900 or 1000 untill Suzuki released the GS1000 in 1979.

I was happy as with all my 650 / 750 Bonnies and Tigers growing up.. kept going with the absolute minimum of attention. Truth is my old Trumpys gave me a lot less drama than my Rocket has ... truth. They just kept on going as long as you could keep the zener diaodes / capacitators up to them

The Zener diaodes didn't they just absorb the extra voltage that was produced how come you blew them up . On my bonneville it was bolted onto the right hand side panel from what I remember

In 1980 I owned one of these Laverda Jota 1000 with the 180 degree crank and it was a little slow of the mark due to it's high gearing but by the time the kawka 1000 or Suk 1000 got to the other side of the intersection my clutch was fully out and I was passing them and the cams were just coming on.....oh did I forget to mention it was running a 3 into 1 racing megaphone system and open bell mouth pumper delorto carbies that would suck in ... small birds if they came to close. You had to get used to the right hand gear shift and the left hand brake pedal but it didn't take long.
I bought it from a guy that had race preped it, It used to smoke up the rear Michelin tyre coming out of slow corners on the Mtn (yes I already had a love afair with the Clyde Mtn back then) if you were keeping it running on cam... the start of my love for Three Cylinder Motorbikes had begunhttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/19/LAVERDA_JOTA_1000cc._ITALY_1976-1982.jpg

Iwas talking about stock straight of the show room floor don't remember to many Laverdas winning the Castrol 6 hour
