Lowers for my GT...My latest project

Yes, I have taken them out for a test ride. I do believe they make a difference, but it is always hard to tell just how much without taking them off and on to test. My slightly larger version should be the best test. It's a bit cool today and not t-shirt weather, so I cannot speak definitively just how well they work. When I ride in a t-shirt, the wind from down below just beats the crap out of my shirt around my neck from the air that comes up from down below. With a jacket on, I don't notice it nearly as much. I don't expect a miracle, but my opinion is they will be an improvement judging by what I can feel with my hand and around my gloves. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and it's only money!

I just submitted a request for a quote to have my new panels laser cut out of high-impact acrylic. I have to wait on that quote before I can order. I'm really happy with how they look, as they almost seem invisible on the bike.

Your clamps look like they might be a simpler option, not needing mounting bracket to change the mounting holes from horizontal to vertical. I think my clamps were like $16 each which wasn't cheap. They are really nice CNC machined aluminum clamps and are well worth the money. I may post more when I know more...
Great news! I wish I had some 1/8" wood paneling to make test pieces. But the pieces I bought were pretty cheap.
 
I looked at those. Sadly, the size just isn't going to cut it when it come to going around the fork tubes. 58mm is what I measured the tubes at and that translates to 2.28346 inches. I couldn't make the first 58mm clamps that I bought work on the tubes without serious modifications and the risk of scuffing the crap out of the tubes. I had to buy 60mm clamps which translates to 2.3622. Those actually would fit around the tubes and with just a small modification, I could get them to clamp tightly. I was able to put some thin rubber grip tape inside the clamp surfaces to prevents any scuffing of the painted tubes. I just couldn't have that!

I considered that, but I would be half way home if I just cut the plastic. Having made bigger lowers and windshield wind deflectors for my 2015 R3T, I was pretty sure I knew what size and design I wanted to make things look good. I think I'm there without mucking up the looks of my bike. :oops::D

Wow...those babies are super sized. Good job though! There is always the battle between form and function and if it works for you I say...go for it. If I wasn't focused on form I would probably make mine bigger, but I think there may be a point of diminishing return as well. I only have one bike too ride, so I'm always trying to strike that balance. No apologies needed on the glomming either as I like to see other ideas. So how do they work? Interesting material, what is it? Almost has a carbon appearance.

Its just clear 1/8" acrylic. And I got this perforated film for it. I posted a link to the clamps and film. I'll try them out today. Rain out day yesterday. I used the film on the lower half of my windshield to try and hide (a little) the moto pockets windshield bag I ordered. Classic Windshield Bag (Harley-Davidson) When I got the shield mounted ,I found there was quite a big space there, between the dash and shield. So I figured I'd try to make use of it.

Well, good news is I noticed a marked improvement to wind hitting my legs and going up under my chin. I could put my hand in front of my knee and not feel any wind, and slowly move it outwards and start to feel the wind. Bad news is I didn't take the time to mount the acrylic with rubber washers, it didn't take to having the nuts cranked down. So new ones this morning from polycarbonate. I didn't put the film on, and made them a little narrower, so maybe they'd be a little less obtrusive. Also, since you can cold bend polycarbonate, I made a little flip at the top. Try to keep air from spilling over.

I like your design. Doesn't muck up the looks at all in my opinion. Could you give a link for where you sourced the clamps?
 
If it shatters at speed, the sharp remnants can cut your face, eyes, neck, perhaps very bad. That is why the windshields are made from specific material that is safe when it breaks.
