The original bags are pretty mediocre, to say the least. After raising the issue, my dealer reluctantly supplied me with the improved outer covers and inner bags from Triumph. Dealer: "Did you really experience any issues with the waterproofness of the bags?" Me: "Not yet, but do you want me to?"
The inner waterproof bags do keep things dry (tested in heavy rain in the Alps). Using the outer covers is recommend, as the bags gets very dirty when you ride in the wet.
