So, all I have are Apple products at my house. TuneEcu requires android or windows machine. What's the most cost effective solution that you've found? I really don't want to spend any more than I have to for a machine that is dedicated for ECU tune only.
Thanks for your help!!

You CAN install on Apple if you need to .........

But a cheap notebook or Android Tablet is probably good option - buy something that is 'old model' - does not require much in way of specs to run TuneECU
Search sites like Overstock and the like for clearance buys

XP-based laptops really shouldn't be used in this day and age, they're not even getting security patches. But I suppose to toss in the garage for TuneECU-duties, maybe...

should do the job, and be useful for couch web surfing and maybe e-book reading otherwise.

Better yet, a Google Nexus 7 (2013 model), but those are getting harder to find.

Just about any Android tablet would do the job, I'm sure, and there are sub-$100 choices galore. The Amazon Fire 7 is literally $50, but it doesn't connect to the Play Store which may or may not be an issue for getting TuneECU on it.

Cost effective=XP laptop I have an old one that I only use for my rocket not for surfing the web or watching **** only for rocket use, nice and cheeeeeep on craigslist or your local thrifty nickle.

Well, a small Android tablet comes in handy for other uses also and is easier to handle than a big heavy laptop, so they're both valid ways to go. And you don't have to go through the hassle of formatting the laptop and reinstalling everything which is the minimum one should do with an old laptop, sanitize it of what the previous owner had there. Never know what might be on there, up to and including kiddy ****. Managing a tablet is just easier - factory reset from the settings menu (if it's used) and you're good to go.

Look for an Acer Aspire One netbook. Works great as a low cost window machine for TuneECU. less than $200 at Best Buy, New Egg, or other outlets.

check out the Asus Andoroid Tablet prices here- Fry's Electronics |

Here's a low cost Brand 10" with MarshMallow 6 Android for under $100 - Insignia™ - 10.1" - Tablet - 32GB
A lot of really good advice here. I am only interested in using it for TuneEcu, so no other nonsense required. Thanks to everyone for your input. Still shopping. In the meantime, I loaded TuneEcu onto my business computer and it works just fine. Uploaded the factory Map, and downloaded the HansO map. Quite a difference in performance. Still, I'll retire in a couple of years and will need something to use then. I'll never go back to a non-apple (linux) platform for other uses. "Once you had Mac, you'll never go back"!
