Fast summary: I took my Carpentered R3 to the dyno man for tuning after changing my exhaust system to Rebands from Jardines. He has the Tuneboy program and I have the cable.
He was able to change the timing one time but on another try to advance timing, the program would not connect and the bike became unstartable. All lights, etc. working but no fuel pump noise at all.
Brought the bike to a Triumph dealer who installed the Triumph "Performance tune and the bike runs.
I have two questions: I have the full Carpenter kit in place which, of course, has radically different compression and cams than stock. Can damage be done running a "Triumph tune" instead of the Tuneboy version for the Carpenter job? with this Carpentered engine?
Also...our last attempt to load the Tuneboy tune resulted in ECU lock down. Is there any way this can be avoided from happening again? It is interesting that we have used Tuneboy many times before on the same bike with absolutely no issues.
Thanks for all the help and concern!
