LED Lights

Good day folks,

I'm will be pulling the pin on new headlights on my 2010 Touring. I will be going the route of the Phase 7 Headlight as well as the 4 1/2 passing lamps by Kuryakyn.

Has anyone here have the same set-up and if so, was it a clean install (plug and play)

Lastly, would a H4 Eastern Beaver kit be neccessary for this headlight mod, knowing that the juice powering these lights is significantly lower than stock.

I ran into a guy at the Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show a couple of weeks ago. He was a retired NY Fireman with a 2008 R3T that had over 190,000 miles on it. He had done the LED headlight conversion and I noticed one thing especially - the daytime visibility of the LED headlights is MUCH LESS that the regular headlights, but he did not have the Kuryakins - he had the Truck-Lites. I'll be interested to see what the daytime visibility will be on your proposed setup.

Here and now - I'll tell you. The LED headlights are all NIGHT LIGHTS - NOT DAY LIGHTS.

If you want daylight visibility FIT proper DRL's. Read the LED headlight reviews on here http://bogiesreviews.webs.com/ - there are lots of pictures - including visibility photos.

As for the EB kit. Any thing that offloads current from the ignition switch is a plus.

In regards to the H4 kit. Can the "in the shell" kit work??. I will be looking at the H4 Siingle with Driving Lights lead.

Might as well get the PC-8 kit as well. From what I've read its a real nice piece of kit to have.

It can but a bit cramped. I got the "fairing kit" and put the relays under gas tank. It's my understanding the LED headlight units are larger than the stock reflectors and take up more room - HD provides a new mounting ring to accomodate the larger size.

Well folks, just an update on my actions. I excercised my due diligence and went the way of the Truck-Lite website and spoke with the regional operations manager of the Prov. of Ontario. He had informed me that a buisness in Richmond Hill (just 10min north of Toronto) has the LED lamps. IN STOCK.

After work, I slide by (5min drive) and spoke with the manager, great guy and showed me the 7 inch as well as the 4.5 passing lamps. Incredable construction, very heavy and very well made. You cannot beat the 3 year warranty and if I have any problems I was told to just return them. The policy is rock solid and there are other stores that carry Truck-Lites can ship with-in the day (locations: Whitby, Bolton, etc).

The best part was the price, for the main 7 inch headlamp, $190.00 and the 4.5 inch passing lamps, $90.00 each. Total cost taxes in was $418.00 Canadian. I did a quick look at the Kuryakyn product according to Canadas Motorcycle website that has free shipping within Canada and more importantly referance to Canadian dollars. The main 7 inch headlamp is $331.46 and the 4.5 inch passing lamps are $271.96 for the pair. Totalling $705.92.

In the event that something is wrong you have to consider shipping charges back to the buisness address. Pain in the ass.

Now for the EB PC-8 as well as the H4 wiring kit.

For the membership, is there a great write up (with photos) in the installation of the H4 relay kit WITH THE DRIVING LAMPS. That would greatly be appriciated.

The snow is killing me, can't wait to ride!!!

Forgot, the Truck-lites are the exact same as the Kuryakyn!!. The packaging is different. Thats all.

So, the two driving lamps hold the 4.5inch bulb? EBay has the 7inch and 4.5inch as a set for H-D. Will they work on R3T?

Got the Truck Lites. Here is a pic. They are awesome.

I fitted Trucklite to my Bonnie, quality product, very bright at night, daylight visibility is very poor.
DRLs are needed as Barbagris stated above.
