has anyone tried upgrading the aux / fog lights on their R3T? i was looking into the led conversions for the headlight and wanted to do them all. does anyone have any experience doing this?

Sure. You have a few easy options there - first, a Truck-lite Phase 7 7-inch headlight reflector with LED, and the accompanying 4.5 inch LED aux ligh reflectors. Basically, a 15 minute job - open the headlight buckets, do some cable splicing on the aux lights (I'd recommend just using four Posilocks to wire in the new ones, the stock ones are cheap and nasty and you have to slash the wires anyway to attach new ones to the wires).

That's well under $400 for all three and it's a considerable light upgrade compared to stock. It says Harley, but they fit the Touring just as well.

Next step up for the main 7 inch light would be a JW Speaker 8700 Evolution 2, or better yet the new 8790 adaptive one which is very cool. The price is less cool, but unlike the 8700 it lights up the side of the road also when you ride, with the 8700 they're kind of a black hole. It puts all the light on the road, and almost zip to the sides when you lean.

The 4.5 inch driving lights from JW Speaker are the 6045's. They output more light than Truck-lite, but they also cost more. You'll be somewhere in the $1000 neighborhood if you go JW Speaker, which starts getting painful.

A third good option for the main 7-inch light would be the newer Custom Dynamics Trubeam in the 7-inch variant. It would go quite well with the JW Speaker 4.5 inchers though, and it looks like a solid choice. But it too is $400-ish by itself. And it appears they have 4.5 inch lights coming out now that match it, that's new.

So Truck-lite is a major bargain. You can get a full three-light set at Amazon or eBay for well under $400.

For the record, I have the 8700 Evo 2 and the 6045's. Great light straight ahead, crap light to the sides when you lean into a corner, and the latter is somewhat of an issue. Installation is a doddle on any of these, the headlight will plug right in and the driving lights require super easy splicing with Posilocks.

The reflectors are held in with tension clips only, so you open the bucket, remove the trim-ring/reflector, remove the clips and separate those two, insert the replacement LED reflector and replace the clip, and close the bucket. Easy.
