My son and I will be in OR this weekend. Hitting the coast and crossing over to Crater Lake Sunday or Monday. I'll be lookin for ya. If you happen to see a Rocket chased by a Tiger, that be us. Safe travels.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW FAR WE CAN GO ON A TANK OF GAS? We have the Touring model if that makes a difference. I usually stop for gas every 100 to 125 miles but we have one spot in our trip where it might be longer than that between stations. I've never tried to get the most miles I could out of a tank but if I remember right it will go about 160 miles.

Cruising the slab you should be able to hit about 175-180 or better.

P.S. Kind jealous of your V8 rides, and I have to admit it's got me thinking Ford 3.5L V6 twin turbo.

It rarely rains in Vegas but now that we are leaving in 8 hours we are having flash floods. Hope its over with when we get up. This stuff usually doesn't last long. Bike is packed and ready to go.

Ah cool. We'll be cutting over from the coast through Roseburg sometime Sunday morning, heading out to Crater Lake and heading back up north from there. Have a safe trip, brother.

Have a nice ride Roy, it seems to be great weather. Do you have a passenger? We are in Reno this morning visiting a friend, we will resume our trip tomorrow. It was a good ride yesterday on some back roads from Vegas to Bishop then up 395 to Reno. This is a great bike for these kind of trips especially with a passenger. Plenty of power and comfortable. Handles the twisty roads like its glued to the road and the brakes are amazing. Of course I compare the brakes and handling to the Boss Hoss so this bike seems like a road racer.

No passenger this time. My wife's butt lasts about 100 mi and she's done lol. Plus she's long legged so the relatively high passenger pegs don't do her any favors. I do like having her on back though. I'm thinking if and when I'm done with my Rocket, I may go for a Thunderbird (or R3T?) so she can be a little more comfy back there. My son will be with me on his Tiger 800XC though. I was hoping my other son could join us on his Street Triple, but he's out of vacation time. So, I'm looking forward to a nice father/son ride. I would have killed to do something like this with my old man so hopefully this will be a fond memory for my kid.
