Lack of engine braking Roadster

have a late 2010 Roadster with onlu 4500kms on the clock, and it seems to lack engine braking when heading for a corner.................by this I mean when I shut the throttle off it seems to hold it's rev's up, without slowing much at all
A bit un-nerving when flying into a corner and then reliase that you need to snatch some brakes for slowing down.
My previous '06 engine braked well, and only mods were spagetti pipe, after market Triumph pipes and slightly up rated tune to match the spagetti pipe
Any sugestions please, as dealer dosen't seem to know an answer

Have the dealer check the engine compression and then check the clutch setting. Sounds like the clutch isn't set correctly if the back torque is causing it to slip.

Part of the emission control system on modern vehicles does not allow the butterflies to close immediately after the throttle is released. This is to burn any unburnt fuel left over from accelerating. This may be your problem.

Okay so ho do i rectgify the problem.
I have since been told by the dealer that it is part of the set up on the new roadsters, that the settings are different on the TPS, and that the only way to change iot is to change the ECU to a standard earlier model, at my cost of course.

The only way they can stop the throttle closing is with the idle control stepper motor (providing it is the same control method as the earlier models). You would have to set the idle manually and disconnect the stepper motor which will throw a code light. This may not work and is only a guess so do so at your own risk. Even the earlier R3's don't drop straight down to 850 rpm immediately after closing the throttle.

I had a very simlar experience with a bike shops demonstrator, when I went into a round about and the bike kept pushing into the round about so grabbed the brake.

Then last Saturday I rode another demo bike with TORs, 3 K&N filters and a tuneboy tune, it went great and a pleasure to ride.

I think the bikes a set from the manufacture to hang on to the RPM for a few seconds to burn fuel before settling down to the correct idle RPM. Its a polution thing.

So if that's the case can the throttle reponse or delay be re-set with the factory software to get rid of it???

That ney be the case but I have no experience with the Triumph or the other programs available, but there are plenty of members with the experience that should be able to put you on the right track.

it's from the secondary throttle plates. take them out and get a proper tune. I noticed a difference after taking mine out.
